OsaRosti is a mixed media and papier-mache artist.

Osa was born on the island of Gotland, Sweden but now lives and works in Sicily (Italy).

She graduated in 2003 from London Guildhall University with a BA (Hons) in Silversmithing, jewellery design and allied crafts.

In her work she uses traditional as well as innovative techniques of papier –mache. She works with both the layering technique where layer upon layer of paper strips is placed together with glue (natural wheat paste glue) onto an armature (the framework onto which the sculpture is built). This creates - when dried - a very hard surface. Alternatively she uses the papier-mache pulp method where the pulp is created from soaking paper in water and then mixed with adhesives and other ingredients creating a material that she places on the armature.

The papier-mache pulp resembles clay in its consistency but unlike clay it doesn’t need an oven to cook because it dries in the air. Once dried, this material is extremely durable and can be sanded, manipulated in various ways, painted and varnished.

Osa’s latest body of work is a collection of decorative wall masks that are inspired by the ancient craft of mask-making. After being inspired by how masks are worn or used decoratively in various cultures to assume the powers of personalities, gods, animals and other beings, she now creates her own characters with very unique personalities.

Besides her collection of wall masks, Osa creates large and small wall decorations/art, and free standing sculptures, some of them very large, life-sized.

Osa finds inspiration for her art in many things: nature, animals, places, people, color...anything can be a spark for the creation of a piece (most of the time it is a mix of things!).

Osa has exhibited her work in various galleries and art shops around the world (U.S, Sweden, U.K, Italy, Switzerland, Dominican Republic and Cyprus) and she also sells her work online through various market places and venues.
